We hope you are well and I write to let you know we have been very busy and provide a short update.

You may recall, we executed our first major license with Central Garden and Pet (Symbol: CENT) this past March. Since then we have been busy working directly with a number of business units at Central Garden to identify final product designs and manufacturing protocols. We are pleased with the progress and will keep you informed as we move ahead. Remember, Central Garden is the leading seller and distributor of pet products in the USA. If our Horse Journal Product of the Year award is any indicator about how our technology performs in products that feature odor and moisture control, then we have good reason to be optimistic about the future for us in the pet industry with Central Garden and Pet. They really work! Just two months ago we shared a brief update about our selection to become a founding member of a research chair at the University of Alberta to work with a number of the top oil companies in Canada and the regional water district to solve the contaminated water issues associated with Canadian Oil Sands extraction and production. We had hoped that the details of the project would be publicized by now. However, given the critical nature of this project, it may not be surprising that a short delay became necessary. So stand by for the details about the project. They appear to be close at hand. In the mean time, please take time to read thepostings that we have made at our blog. Oil Sands is big business (1.9 million barrels of crude which produces more than 5 million barrels of contaminated water a day and its growing. We have a real opportunity to play an important role in helping solve the related water issues.

BioLargo Signs License Agreements to Bring Next Generation Water Sanitizing System for Food Safety and Agricultural Uses to Market in the United States

April 6, 2010

BioLargo, Inc. announced today that it had entered into a series of agreements to commercialize a leading water disinfection system for food safety and agricultural uses, first introduced in Australia, called the Isan system, in the United States.

Food safety is of great concern in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that foodborne diseases cause approximately 76 million illnesses, 325,000 hospitalizations, and 5,000 deaths in the United States each year. A recent study conducted by the Produce Safety Project at Georgetown University reported that health related costs associated with food-borne illnesses in the U.S. total $152 billion annually.

Dennis P. Calvert, President & CEO of BioLargo commented, "The Isan system is a big part of the solution to help solve food safety issues, as well as to begin replacing dangerous pesticides and chlorine based products that so often are harmful to people and our environment. The Isan system is a patented automated water disinfection system that utilizes iodine and substantially reduces the incidence of fungal growth, spoilage organisms and pathogens in water and on food. Capable of treating high volumes of water flow, the Isan system is a combination of electrodes for measuring iodine levels in the target water stream, a control unit which automatically controls the dosage levels, iodine canisters to deliver the iodine, and resin canisters to collect by-products after disinfection has been completed.

Iodine, a broad spectrum disinfectant with no known acquired resistance capabilities, is used extensively in the hospital and animal health markets due to its high level of efficacy combined with its low reactivity to human, plant and animal cells.

The Isan system is registered with the APVMA (Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority) and FSANZ (Food Standards Australia and New Zealand) in Australia and New Zealand, where it has approximately 150 customer installations currently operating, primarily for use in horticulture, post-harvest sanitation of fruits and vegetables, dairy use, and poultry drinking water. In April 2009, the creator of the Isan system, Ioteq IP Pty. Ltd. of Australia, was chosen as one of the top 50 water companies in an international competition by The Artemis Project™.

"The Isan system is one of the most important advances in food and plant safety in the past 20 years" said Dr. Joseph Montecalvo of California State Polytechnic University, who is a noted expert in organic post harvest handling and processing and related international standards, HACCP and EPA-FDA-USDA regulatory compliance, and food plant sanitation.

La Mirada, Calif. – BioLargo, Inc. (symbol: BLGO) announced today (March 9, 2010) that it has completed several important business developments to better serve its growing sales channels for its award winning Odor-No-More product-line, including its animal bedding additive which can reduce customer's bedding consumption and disposal by up to 75%.

First, the company is now warehousing inventory in multiple locations strategically located throughout the nation to reduce shipping time and costs for its expanding network of distributors and retailers.
